Speculative Design For A Contemporary Play
Enron, By Lucy Prebble:
I knew this was a production playing out real events and real people's situations, so I wanted to execute this in an appropriate manner. In my mind, although it was a very modern office atmosphere, I wanted to focus on Fastow's office- which in my head was old looking, rustic and kind of homely. His office was the heart of the downfall, so I felt it appropriate to make it centred around this.

FIRST, RESEARCH:
Alongside reading through the play, I also watched the documentary, 'The Smartest Guys In The Room' This was about the actual events not the play, which wasn't entirely accurate.
Watching this documentary has helped me with my research into the scandal, as its shed light to the things that I originally didn’t digest from the written play. For instance; how they had a marking scheme on everyone from 1-5 and that you had to be a 5 to stay within the company. I have also seen their offices, their environment and heard first hand how cut throat you had to be to survive in the company.
However, seeing the things play out that I had already read and known about really helped me visualise the true devastation.
CHARACTER ANALYSIS:
Jeffrey Skilling:
Weak, hypocritical, uptight, materialistic, no respect for people below him or who isn't working in his best interest and boisterous.
Andy Fastow:
Like a Vulture, environment is dark, unsociable, unapproachable,
