Construct The Moment Model Year 2

Year 2 Construct The Moment Model

My Chosen Area of The Waverly Building:

Unlike the first year, which was driven by second year students, this time we each initially made one model each; a 2X2X4 meter section of any part of our university building. I chose a bit near the entrance which was subtly beautiful. It contrasted the new, modern glass wall/window/door with the origianl long standing stone wall. I thought the stark difference between the two was interesting. Old V new as one.

Drawing In AutoCAD:

This started off particularly hard for me, since working digitally is quite alien to me, but with some confidence after a while, it actually seemed pretty easy and fast paced.

Starting To Make The Model:

This is where the fun started. I decided to focus on the 6 blocks because its just a repeat of the same shape and set of measurements.

Next, I focused on the 'base' part, along with the 'skirting board'-like details which were very fidley and each layer had their own different measurement.

Then I moved onto the basic floor plan, drawing around the base and the rest of the area for where the side of the bricks had to go. Then I stuck the basis for the bricks down.

Measurements and Drawings:

The first step was the scariest: getting every single measurement and making sure everything was absolutely right. I had to make myself a few drawings so later on down the line I knew what each measurement was for so that I could make it as precise, and also for AutoCAD.

Then I stuck the bricks and base together along with the left hand side which will later become an indoor area. (On this photo I have done the bricks)

Last to add was just the other wall which consisted of mount board and acetate for the steel and glass. Once the bricks were stuck on the base, I then glued the glass wall to the correct place and proceeded to finish with the finishing touch of paint.
