COLLAB Project-
Model Making

The Model Tent I Made For a Visual In The Presentation

FAVOURITE THING:

It was actually pretty fun to create something that is an all outdoors experience. Everything model making wise was mostly indoor that I had done so far, so making the grass, and sticks and arranging trees was all quite a new challenge for me.

The tent is actually based off of my own tent in which I always go camping in. It's a typical bell tent, and I modelled from it because it related well to our project.

Our project idea was a cultural festival placed within Nottingham, open to all campuses of our Uni for all students, to experience different food from every back ground. Each stall is different from the next, ranging in ethnicity; each stall would look differently too-depending on its culture. Different fabrics, bunting or tapestries and decor would be used to best suit each individually. Each corner of the festival would ooze with character and a story to tell.

Not only did each stall be different, but on each stall would be a volunteer overseer/chef who would give cook talks whilst cooking, and offer students to help cook with them. This dish would be then served to the audience as tasters. Then the chef would ask people from the audience to cook along side him for the chance to win gift vouchers, and goods, as well as a recipe card and starting kit for that dish.

I only had two days to construct this, so it looks a little basic, if I had more time I would have wanted to add more specific cultural decor and furniture and also cooking utensils to show that its a cooking moment.

However, I feel it really helped convey our basic message whilst we were doing our presentation. I also noticed a lot of the people there loved it and were surprised to see it, as a lot of the people in the room were from courses such as fashion marketing and graphic design, so they've never made or hardly ever see models, so it was refreshing for them. I honestly forgot that they aren't used to seeing them, so i'm glad I made one for our group. I think this way of communication is value for my future.
